The Joy of the Month of May !

The Joy of the Month of May !

This is one month on the calendar for which I eagerly await immediately after I finish celebrating the new year. I count months and then days and when I finally enter May, I am usually found lost in day dreaming at work/home, deciding random outfits and prevailing thoughts on the celebrations and so on.

Hope you’ve guessed it…Yes, it’s the month of my ‘birthday’.  A woman who has now turned 27 J (No, I am not conscious of hiding my age)

I’ve always been on board with the whole “birthday” concept with all its whims and fancies, it might sound insane but I still like to celebrate the day I once celebrated as a toddler then a teenager, with all swings and party bloopers.

Being married now for more than 3 years I never really realized I am now growing into a big woman, (and a pretty fat one too) and the major credit holder of my insanity which is still in full action is the another insane man, the man of my life. He lets me be me in all my kooky eccentricity. It sounds a bit funny to do a happy birthday dance with a hat on my head but it all came true.  I’ll tell you how.

This Birthday I have been the happiest of all. Midnight surprise visit by mom and my brother, a super good looking yet edible makeup cake. Ofcourse, my whacko’s idea, followed by a dinner at one of our favorite Chinese Restaurant.

I chose to go to work the next day as my girl gang has been hinting me hard about the obvious surprises they have been planning for me.

And the moment I entered towards my cubicle, that’s what I saw! Refer to the picture below:

The Wonderful Decoration by Loulies
A beautifully done workstation with rose petals and heart shaped balloons skillfully pasted all around, with a huge card with autographs of the beauties with more roses and chocolates on the desk.

How I felt like jumping clad in the 5.5m of tent at the witness of this sight.

‘That making you a celebrity in the office overnight email’ finally arrived wishing me birthday with all big shots of the company marked on it. Oh I was feeling so on top of the world.

The Fresh Yellow Lilies
I wore a khadi woven silk saree to work that day on demand placed by my friends. I didn’t throw tantrums either as I look for reasons to wear sarees.

The day has been pretty overwhelming so far.

The Indian 'Me'

At the time of lunch, my phone rang and I could only hear someone screaming aloud ‘jaldi neeche aa kuch emergency hai’ (well neeche aa only refers to our huge hangout zone – our office cafeteria)  and banged the phone.

I actually forgot it’s a surprise for me.

Fireworks !

As I went ahead, what was waiting for me is something you can witness in the most candid shots of my life below:

All I could express within my so called ethical code of conduct within public is to hug all of my friends the hardest I could. The yellow lilies, the surprise ferns and petal bouquet from my sister in law in Bangalore. A goody box that came all the way from Kolkata from my inlaws and the box contained, a beautiful Tibetan mask, a silk handmade belt, birthday cards and postcards from Leh ( this was from a recent visit my mom in law and sister in law had to Leh, Ladakh). My random picture collage made by the IT Team and a thick belgian heart shaped chocolate cake with a fireworks candle bursting as you see in the pic! oh what-a-delight!

I was grinning ear to ear with unbound joy !

Coming back at home. We surely have had plans. And I soon started doing all that I have been waiting for…to dress with all my heart for a perfect candle lit dinner, to put my wanna be Amy Winehouse inspired eye makeup and drag on my sexy maxi Aztec print dress I especially kept aside for my birthday.

"hubby beloved"

In all this blabber I forgot to mention that he already gifted me my most wanted requirement of the year– a brand new Samsung galaxy phone. (No iphone – I mentioned in advance to him)

We reached this beautiful place called Fio, amidst the very beautiful Garden of Five Senses. I wish to hug the person who thought of bringing in the restaurant concept to this place. We’ve been here before at the time of our anniversary and Shamik already knows how much I loved the ambience. There are 6 to 7 different restaurants here in and around this place. Each has its own taste and uniqueness.

I love open garden restaurants and even the ones at the porches and patios. For me – this is it !

Happy 'US'

After the wine and dine, we drove back home and I slept with a feeling of great content and gratification. Thank you god for everything… remember that lil prayer we sang before we ate.

I forgot to mention that I share my birthday with my bestie not really the same day but how we wish it should have been. Well shez on the 16th and I am on the 17th. But who cares? We still call it twin’s delight.

Nuppu n me !
Now the family and love date was done on my birthday calendar! Pheww! What was remaining was a celebration with my gossip girls. Nupur aka Nuppu (that’s I call her) decided to pool in the party and we chose a place called lighthouse 13, in Metropolitan MGF Mall. He even rolled out an e-invite to everyone on our social networking zone.

Have a look: it’s cuteness to die for !

Nupur and I badly wanted to wear same dresses for our birthday but miserably failed on the hunt. So we stuck safe and happy to what we look best in. I bought a lovely MUAH tube dress for my birthday with Abstract geometric prints. (ofcourse I know whats working with trends this season) with a chunky mint statement neckpiece. Finished the look with tan brogues which was forcefully gifted to me by Nupur. ( I chose, I ordered, she paid J)

The mocha something something cake Nisha my another bestie got for us

I gifted her a cool blue maxi dress, and a lemon yellow tote bag, which she is wearing in the pictures below.

with Saloni, Yes shez beautiful

We had quite a ball and I enjoyed all the gifts. Food was amazing and lil dance added more completeness to my idea of a perfect birthday.

So, that is the long happening report for my 27th birthday. Things are going well and they are on track to get even better. Life didn’t follow the path I planned for, but it has given me greater gifts than I expected.

At the end I’d like to put a lil prayer I had to say to god, before I say Asta la vista !

Thank you, God, for giving me another year of life.
Thank you for all the people who remembered me today
by sending cards, and letters, gifts and good wishes.

My another darling baby - Nisha
Thank you for all the experience of this past year;
for times of success which will always be happy memories,
for times of failure which reminded me of my own weakness and of my need for you,
for times of joy when the sun was shining,
for times of sadness which drove me to you.

Forgive me
for the hours I wasted,
for the chances I failed to take,
for the opportunities I missed this past year.
Help me in the days ahead to make this the best year yet,
and through it to bring good credit to myself,
happiness and pride to my loved ones,
and joy to you.

Hope you enjoyed my birthday journey.
Be safe, cross the uncrossed, Be happy !

Love
XOXO
